Elderly Goleta Woman Struck and Killed by Vehicle

Goleta - September 13th, 2011

Goleta Police are investigating the cause of a deadly crash in the City of Goleta Monday evening.

At approximately 8:28 pm, on Monday, September 12, 2011, Goleta Police and Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a vehicle versus a pedestrian collision at the intersection of Calle Real at Kingston Ave.

Carlin Paige Canter (11/28/92) of Isla Vista was driving westbound in the 5600 block of Calle Real when she struck Mary Manuela Robles (04/09/21) of Goleta who was crossing at the intersection of Calle Real @ Kingston Ave.  Robles was pronounced dead at the scene.

The intersection of Calle Real and Kingston Ave was closed to all traffic for approximately six hours.

The Sheriff's Major Accident Response Team responded and is handling the traffic collision investigation.  The Sheriff's Coroner's Bureau is handling the death investigation.

The cause of this collision is still under investigation and it is unknown at this time if drugs and or alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
