Carpinteria Gang Attack Leads to 3 Arrests
Carpinteria- November 6th, 2010
On Thursday, November 4, 2010 while walking home from Rincon High School, in Carpinteria, a male 16 year old student was attacked by three other Rincon High School students. The three suspects used a baseball bat (smaller souvenir style), fists, and feet to attack the victim. The victim was hit in the head and the body; he was beaten unconscious by the three suspects. The three suspects then left the area. The victim regained consciousness, and was taken to the hospital to have his wounds treated. As of this time, it is not fully known how severe the victim’s injuries are.
On Friday, November 05, 2010, at 0910 hours, the investigation of this crime led to the arrest of all three suspects. They were arrested at Rincon High School. All three suspects are known gang members. Those arrested are:
Luis Miguel Perez, an 18 year old Ventura resident
Eric Isabel Arroyo, an 18 year old Carpinteria resident
A male 16 year old Carpinteria resident (name withheld due to his age)
Perez and Arroyo will be booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail; their bail is $150,00.00. The arrested juvenile will be booked into the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall. All three suspects will be booked on these charges:
245(a)(1) PC – Assault with a Deadly Weapon
243(d) PC – Commit Battery Causing Serious Injury
182 PC – Conspiracy to Commit a Crime
186.22 PC – Committing a Crime in Furtherance of a Criminal Street Gang
