9 ARRESTED DURING SANTA BARBARA DUI CHECKPOINT



SANTA BARBARA COUNTY - DECEMBER 31st, 2011


AVOID the 12’ conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint Friday night (Dec 30th) from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. in the 400 block of Chapala Street in Santa Barbara

Results from the checkpoint:

A 22 year old driver was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license and he had a blood alcohol level over 3 times the legal limit of .08%.  He has two prior DUI convictions.

Officers from the Guadalupe, Lompoc, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria Police Departments and the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office staffed the checkpoint.

‘AVOID the 12’ is a county wide DUI enforcement effort comprised of the 12 Law Enforcement agencies in Santa Barbara County.

Additional information about the Avoid Program and operational plans from around the region can be found at www.californiaavoid.org.  Statistical data on the number of DUI arrests and DUI fatal crashes will be released from the previous day’s activities throughout the holiday weekend.
