Hendry's Beach Homicide Victim Identified

Santa Barbara Sheriff’s detectives have identified the victim of last night’s homicide as 44-year old Robert Burke Simpson (DOB 2/4/66) of Santa Barbara.
The victim died after being stabbed just before 6:30pm on Thursday, April 15, 2010. Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Deputies and Santa Barbara Police officers initially responded to the incident after receiving 911 calls reporting a fight at Hendry’s Beach/Arroyo Burro Beach in Santa Barbara.
When Santa Barbara Police officers arrived on scene they discovered the victim who had been stabbed; the parking lot and surrounding area were filled with about 200-300 people who were present at the time of the incident.
Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Detectives and members of the Sheriff’s Forensics Bureau have worked through the night and all day Friday gatherings evidence and witness statements with the help of Santa Barbara Police.
Due to the large crowd that was present at the time of the incident, and the proliferation of digital recording devices, Sheriff’s detectives are asking anyone who may have recorded video at the scene or anyone who has any information, to contact them at (805) 681-4150, or if they wish to remain anonymous, they can call the Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip Line at (805) 681-4171 where they can leave a message.
